It all started at 6am on Friday morning, in the shadow of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai...it was chilly and early!

We were separated from the others early on - so we only managed to catch 3 for a pre-run pose before the 10km.

There were so many people there for the 10km - it was a bit too crowded for me - I am glad I wasn't in that mess!

Off they go!

Us Ladies before the 3km walk - we met up with two former Doha Dwellers - one now in Bahrain and one now in Dubai!

Our triumphant marathon runner! 4hrs and 12 minutes - second marathon ever! Way to go!

Of course, no race is complete with a brunch afterwards! Brunches in the Middle East are interesting affairs...they are Friday mornings, include booze and often turn into a party...simply because there isn't much else to do on a Friday because everything is closed. We went to Yalumba in Le Meridien. It is an Australian themed restaurant and it also happened to be Australia Day - so the party was extra big! Lots of celebrating Aussies and kangaroo meat available if you wanted! PS. Unlike Doha, Dubai brunches include real champagne....yum.

Celebrating with hats

Looking good

Yes, it is now dark out. And yes, we arrived in the daylight. The sun sets at 5pm anyway...

Obligatory end of night photo - sweaty from our rock star dance moves!
We had a great time in Dubai and we are so fortunate to have met such wonderful people here! Thanks everyone!
