Whirlwind

Can you believe it is almost the end of January? I can’t.

We have been somewhat silent on the blog (and Twitter and Facebook) this past week as we had a lot going on. Unfortunately, we made a whirlwind trip back to Calgary for the funeral of my grandfather. We made the decision to come back in a day and a half and while we didn’t get a chance to say goodbye, we did get a chance to pay our last respects and this was important to both C and myself.

We kept it quiet, as we didn’t want anyone to be hurt if we didn’t get a chance to see them, as my family was our number one priority. Even now, I wish we had one or two more days with my parents and grandmother. It seems that we had barely landed before we were off again – five days in the city and two travel days each way. We are exhausted.

My grandfather was a great man. The service was a beautiful celebration of his life and we had lots to celebrate (86 years!) I am going to miss him deeply. Funerals always serve as a reminder to me at how precious life is and the greatest gift we have from God is time.
